HOPING TO REDUCE CLIMATE CHANGE, ON THE 20TH JULY 2007 I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SPEAK TO HILLARY BENN (secretary for the environment)

' We - discussed the use of BIO DIESEL and Mr. Benn did not realise how stringent the Customs and Excise were in their collection of duty, if you were to use bio diesel. I explained this regulation prevented people using this clean alternative fuel which would then help to save CO2 emissions. Also I noted many European countries did not collect duty on bio fuel and a European directive existed suggesting only low or no duty should be collected on this fuel.  Afterwards I felt sure he would look at these matters and get back with a reply.

Sure enough I did receive his reply this January. He explained the allowance for individuals to make bio diesel for their own use and also that he and the government were working with industry and farmers to 'to develop markets and promote uptake'

GOOD NEWS!!!   FROM JULY 2007 NEW REGS ALLOW YOU TO MAKE 2500L BIO DIESEL.

DUTY is LIFTED !!!
